Every school in the county needs volunteers. PTA/PTSA is in need of volunteers to serve in different capacities. Volunteers can support the school by becoming PTSA members, serving on the board, chairing committees, helping with special events or other types of support.The overall purpose of PTSA is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. In elementary schools, the parent organization is the PTA. In middle and high schools, the organization often involves the students, and is called the PTSA.
The mentor's duties are to help with homework, encourage attendance, tutor, listen to the student's problems and help the student find solutions.The mentor serves as a role model for the student, demonstrating values of punctuality, dependability, reliability and will help the student appreciate the importance of education, both personally and professionally.Training is mandatory for new mentors before being placed. OCPS Mentor Programs are: Find Your Voice, Minority Leadership Scholars; My Brother's Keeper, My Sister's Keeper.
